Cross-sectional health check of more than 1,300 healthcare professionals at ESC Congress 2025 with age- and sex-matched general-population controls. Excess weight 46.8 percent, hypertension 23.2 percent, high cholesterol 22.7 percent; subclinical atherosclerosis in about 20 percent without known disease; only 27.6 percent of eligible professionals on blood pressure medication versus 46.5 percent of controls, though those treated reached targets more often; in secondary prevention only 22.2 percent on lipid-lowering therapy at LDL target.
